Energy requirements and availability in a modern raw sugar factory are outlined. Suggestions are made for increasing the surplus of electrical energy over the internal requirements of the sugar factory, mainly by the use of condensing turbines and dehydration of bagasse. The integration of facilities for alcohol production from molasses in a raw sugar factory is also considered. | |
