A protozoan disease was first detected in 1985 on the white grub Phyllophaga smithi Arrow (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae). Several studies were carried out to establish its distribution over the island and its incidence in other white grub species. Two apparently different gregarines (Apicomplexa: Eugregarinida) were found infecting second and third instar larvae of P. smithi and third instar larvae of Adoretus sp. Approximately 70 | |
