Research on nematodes depends to a large extent on the ability to identify them quickly and accurately. A program already exists at the Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI) that uses two methods of identification. These are the methods of Mismatch and the method of Statistics. However, this program is relatively inefficient and the second method does not work satisfactorily. Based on the existing program, a system is to be designed and implemented incorporating three methods of identification, namely the two existing methods and the method of Gower. It aims at providing methods of identification that are more convenient, more reliable and less tedious. Execution times on existing methods of identification have been reduced from six minutes and twelve minutes to two minutes and six minutes respectively. | |
