Abstract (AB)The object of feeding sugar cane to cattle is to provide the bulk of the energy requirements in the form of carbohydrates. The yield and composition of sugar cane stalks, derinded stalks and tops at ages of 5,7 and 10 months were studied for varieties S17 and M93/48 at Henrietta and varieties S17 and M377/56 at St. André. Better yields of carbohydrates were obtained from 7 months old cane at St. André than from 10 months old cane at Henrietta. The yields from the latter were comparable with those from 12-18 months old cane in Barbnados.
