Abstract (AB)This paper demonstrates how the Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) technique can be used to determine the optimum number of ratoons in sugarcane. The basic data requirements are given and the use of sensitivity analysis for treatment of uncertainties (variation in prices, yields, etc.) is also discussed. The application of this method for the determination of optimal cane cycle under Mauritian conditions is illustrated.
