| The long term yield responses of sugarcane (P + 6R) to fertilizer N were examined and showed that field experimentation up to the third ratoon was sufficient to accurately establish the N fertilizer needs of sugar cane over its entire crop cycle of 7 years. Moreover, the N fertilizer requirements of sugar cane varied from one site to another within each soil group. The yield re sponse data averaged over a number of sites therefore only provide a guideline for deciding fertilizer N rate for a given site. | |
