Abstract (AB)The various factors which affect the steam requirements of a sugar factory such as mill stops and start-ups, imbibition rate, vapour bleeding, pan movement water, condensate flashing, etc., are reviewed. Computer simulations have been carried out to assess the effect of the factors and numerical results are listed.
