Abstract (AB)Sugarcane leaf eating caterpillars are occasional pests but may cause severe damage to sugarcane fields. They are in most cases pests of cereal crops and pasture grasses. The most important species belong to the genera Spodoptera and Mythimna. They are commonly referred to as armyworms. Results of experiments carried out in Mauritius show that treatment with thiodicarb is very effective. A fairly high number of parasitoides have been reared for Mythimna curvula in Mauritius.
