Abstract (AB)A review of the present methods of chemical control calculations at various sugar mills in Mauritius is presented. The various sources of inaccuracy in the estimation of the sugar "made and estimated" every week are analysed in detail and an alternate procedure for estimating the weight of pol recoverable from stock is described. A method of carrying out an overall sucrose balance daily, using a digital computer is also proposed.
