Abstract (AB)Data obtained in sugarcane fields after cyclone "Gervaise" on February 6-7, 1975, showed that borer (Chilo sacchariphagus) injuries had not augmented wind breakage of canes. The nature of borer injury in relation to crop growth is discussed and it is concluded that borer injury does not materially influence breakage of canes in Mauritius during cyclonic winds.
