Abstract (AB)The principles and techniques of precision agriculture (PA) are evolving in time in relation to specific crops, and prevailing socio-economic and environmental conditions. The principles and techniques applied to sugar cane, within the precision agriculture project initiated for the Mauritian sugar industry, are discussed. These include system approach, variability mapping and assessment, geo-spatial measurement techniques and technology diffusion. Variability mapping of yield and soil and seeking the causes of variability are prioritized.
