Abstract (AB)The digestible crude-protein of oven-dried filter muds is low, so that this material has approximately the same nutritive value as dried green cane-tops despite a considerably higher content of crude protein. Cane juice coagulate has been fed as a supplementary protein source to chickens and it was found to be about one half the value of fish meal for this purpose. Amino-acid analyses of the coagulate show methionine is low and supplementation with this essential amino-acid may be needed.
