Abstract (AB)	Owing to an overproduction of food commodities in developed countries and to a greater competition with synthetic products, agriculture in developing countries faces difficulties. This had led to a diversification of their economy towards manufacturing industries. In order to strengthen the agricultural sector and maintain the equilibrium between agriculture and industrialization, developing countries must have recourse to crop diversification, improvement of productivity and costs of production and formulate appropriate measures for manpower problems. Several avenues of research likely to yield immediate results are reviewed, as follows: choice of crops technology, agricultural economics, mechanization and exploratory work in new technologies such as biotechnology and remote sensing.
