Abstract (AB)The species of Cratpus Schonherr (Curculionidae: Entiminae: Cratopini) known from the mascarene Islands of Mauritius and Rodrigues are described or redescribed, with notes on their relationships, habits, foodplants and distribution. Comment is made on erroneous or dubious records. Thirty-eight species considered to be Mauritian but others, as yet undescribed because of inadequate material, are known to occur. Over 30 species appear to be endemic to Mauritius. New species described from the island are C. deceptus, C. emarginatus, C. furvus, C. mundulus, C. nothus, C. stimaeus and C. vulgaris. Cratopus hamatipes Marshall is a junior synonym of C. pilosus hustache and C. perturbatus Boheman a junior synonym of C. confusus Boheman, while C. punctum emmerezi Hustache and C. virescens montanus Richarad are not considered valid subspecies. Lectotypes are designated for C. aeneoniger Hustache, C. hamatipes Marshall, c. punctum (Fabricius) and C. viridilimbatus Hustache. The five known species from Rodrigues are all endemic. Keys are provided to both the Mauritian and Rodriguan species
